New Students Encouraged to Enroll Before Start of School

Students new to the Klein ISD are encouraged to enroll before the first day of school, August 23. Students who were enrolled in the KISD when the school year 2009-2010 ended are automatically enrolled for the 2010-2011 year.

Exposing The Fraud In Texas' Assessment Of Its Schools

In a recent article published in a local newspaper on (7/14/2010), columnist Rick Casey expressed his indignation regarding the new means that Texas has adopted for assessing the progress of students in its schools. Casey says,

The more I think about the statistical chicanery that nearly tripled the number of "exemplary" Texas school districts while cutting the number of "unacceptable" districts by half, the more outraged I get.

Schindewolf Intermediate Students Combat Bullying

Ms. Taghi is creating a week long series that will run nightly in August to  highlight how area schools combat bullying.

RIDDLE WARNS OF OIL SPILL'S IMPENDING IMPACT ON HOUSTON ECONOMY

AUSTIN- After spending several days meeting with top officials in WashingtonD.C. and Louisiana, Representative Debbie Riddle (R - District 150) saidthe Deepwater Horizon oil spill has triggered an economic domino effectthat could spell disaster for the Houston area.

The Texas Stallions Track
Club hit the road this past weekend to participate in the 19th edition of the Louisiana Governor’s Games, sponsored by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports which sponsors the event, aims to expand sports and fitness programs to encourage healthy behavior for Louisiana youth. The Stallions and forty-five other teams with more than 1,500 youth athletes competed in the youth track and field meet at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track

Stadium. Children ages 4 to 18 years came from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas to participate in the Amateur Athletic Union

(AAU) sanctioned event hosted by Crescent City Track Club.

Festival Ballet Presents Cinderella

Festival Ballet and The Academy of Ballet & Dance Arts will present Spring Recital 2010/Cinderella with music by Prokofiev at the San Jacinto College South Fine Arts Center, on June 26, with one performance at 4:00 p.m.

KISD Education Foundation Awards Grants

Members of the community and KISD staff members visited 11 schools as a part of the Celebration Express, announcing that teachers in Klein were receiving grants from the Education Foundation. The 57 teachers whose grants were funded were awarded a total of $51,583. The foundation has awarded a total of $876,780 in grants over the past ten years.
