KISD Seeks Volunteers to Serve as Mentors

The Klein ISD offers a mentoring program for students in elementary and intermediate schools who would benefit from time with a positive adult role-model. Mentors encourage the development of positive character traits, help students set and achieve goals, play board games, offer positive support, and share conversation time. The district offers training for the program. Parental permission is required for a student to participate.

To become a part of the mentor training program, community members need to attend one training session. The final session for this school year will be on February 11 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the board room of the Klein ISD central office (7200 Spring Cypress Road, Klein 77379).

To register for the mentor training, please contact Ms. Angie Mentz at amentz1@kleinisd.net or 832-249-4362.

Typically, mentors visit students once a week during lunch, before school, or after school so that students lose no instruction time. The schedule works well for retirees, parents, and community members who like to be with students and who prefer a regularly scheduled volunteer service in small blocks of time.
